Career fairs

Students and Employers at Careers Fair

Careers fairs and insight events are popular ways for employers to engage with our students. We run a number of sector-specific careers fairs and insight events throughout the academic year, which is a great way to raise your profile on campus. The aim of these events is to make penultimate and final year students aware of the work experience, internships and permanent positions available within your company. We also encourage earlier years to attend the fairs as a useful way to develop their understanding of industry.

If you are interested in being added to our mailing list to be kept up to date on booking a place at our Careers Fair 2020/21, or any of our other events and services, please email the employer team at employers@hw.ac.uk

The information below relates to our usual face-to-face events held on campus:

Construction Project Management and Quantity Surveying Careers Insight Event - Wednesday 28 October 2020 (Online Virtual Event)

This event is aimed at our Construction Management and Quantity Surveying undergraduate and postgraduate students. This is not specifically a recruitment event, although this has been a positive by-product in previous years, but rather an opportunity for students to gain further insight in to the variety of roles, sectors and careers related to their degree. Students who have attended similar events in the past have found it very valuable.

The format of this event is speed meetings involving small groups of students and graduates/employers representing a variety of roles, companies and sectors followed by a chance to network. The short meetings will be an opportunity for the professional to give a brief overview of their background, current role and employer followed by questions and discussion with the students.

Organisations Attending 2019 Insight Event
AECOM, Berkeley Group, Blackrock Expert Services, BTTC Infrastructure, CBRE, CIOB, Faithful + Gould, Gleeds, ISG, Linesight, Mott MacDonald, Robertson Group, Turner & Townsend.

Planning and Real Estate Careers Insight Event - Wed 4 November 2020 (Online Virtual Event)

This event is aimed at Urban Planning and Real Estate undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The company representatives we are looking to invite to this event are people who have been working within the industry for 3 years or more and who have experience within their role. We would like the person to give an overview of (for instance) their career path, where they started, how they got to where they are now, tips and advice they would have liked to have been given when they were starting out and details of a typical day within their specific role. We would also like the representatives to talk about why they chose to work within their particular field.

We would recommend coming along with no more than 3 representatives, for instance a recent graduate, someone with 3 or more years’ experience and a HR person. If you would like to bring more colleagues it is of course fine to do so.
